On Thursday afternoon, March 31, the new Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Liesje Schreinemacher, and Deputy Director General of International Cooperation Birgitta Tazelaar will be joining us in the World Café studio. They will gather input from southern speakers for the new policy paper expected to be presented in June.

Like her predecessors, Minister Schreinemacher will publish a policy paper that lays down the focus of her policy for the upcoming years. In the run-up to this, a (partially online) consultation process is planned, that will be started in the course of March. The aim of the consultation is to gather input from various stakeholders including Dutch civil society organizations, their southern partners and corporates, on key themes and opportunities.
In the first part of this World Café, presenter Ama van Dantzig will talk with the minister about the importance of the new policy, her first findings as Minister and the type of input she would like to gather for the policy paper. What does she consider most innovative in the sector and where does she see opportunities? What could be improved She will also connect with southern actors: questions will be submitted via video messages. Guests will join virtually to give their input for the new policy document. They will share stories that inspire; stories about innovation and opportunities to achieve collaboration as equal partners.
In the second part of this World Cafe, we will talk with Birgitta Tazelaar and foresight practitioner Krizna Gomez about the consultation and the requirements for new policy. How can we achieve more policy coherence? And how can we create public support in society for new policy in the field of international cooperation these days?

Op donderdagmiddag 31 maart zijn de nieuwe minister voor Buitenlandse Handel en Ontwikkelingssamenwerking, Liesje Schreinemacher, en plaatsvervangend directeur-generaal internationale samenwerking Birgitta Tazelaar de studiogasten van het Wereld Café. Ze zullen input ophalen van zuidelijke sprekers voor de nieuwe beleidsnota die volgens verwachting in juni wordt gepresenteerd.
Net zoals haar voorgangers zal minister Schreinemacher een beleidsnota maken waarin de focus van haar beleid verder wordt uitgewerkt. In het kader hiervan zal een (gedeeltelijk online) consultatieproces plaatsvinden dat is gestart ten tijde van dit wereldcafe. Doel van de consultatie is input te verzamelen van diverse stakeholders; waaronder maatschappelijke organisaties, hun zuidelijke partners en bedrijfsleven, over de belangrijkste thema’s en kansen voor nieuw beleid.
In het eerste deel van het Wereld Café gaat presentator Ama van Dantzig in gesprek met de minister over het belang van nieuw beleid, haar eerste bevindingen als minister en over het soort input dat ze zou willen ophalen voor de beleidsnota. Waar zit volgens haar de innovatie en lef van de Nederlandse sector? Wat zou beter kunnen? Vindt ze dat de ontwikkelingssector het predicaat topsector verdient? Ook gaat ze in gesprek met Zuidelijke partners. Via videoboodschappen worden vragen ingebracht. Enkele gasten zullen inbellen en hun input voor de nieuwe beleidsnota geven. Zij delen verhalen die inspireren, en verhalen die gaan over innovaties en kansen om te komen tot gelijkwaardige samenwerking in de sector.
In het tweede deel praten we verder met Birgitta Tazelaar en Krizna Gomez over de consultatie en het nieuwe beleid. Waar is Nederland goed in en wat kan beter? Hoe kun je komen tot meer beleidscoherentie? En hoe kun je anno 2022 draagvlak creëren voor nieuw beleid op het terrein van internationale samenwerking?
